So recently... my mother has taken to saying "Street Fu." As if it were some sort of martial art. This term struck me as odd. I had to ponder most throughly what she was attempting to accomplish with this obtuse form of communication. Unable to decipher it's meaning, I asked her what the hell she was saying.

She told it meant "Shut the f*** up."

Before she could explain further, as she attempted to, I replied with a despondent tone, "STFU?" The logic in her terminology become clear as the popular internet char acronym was broken down is ST and FU, and ST was to be pronounced as its popularized abbreviation of "street" followed by "Fu."

She seemed somehow amazed that I had heard this, considering she had been one to believe our housemate Tommy had invented the term, and she thought him witty. At least until I had told her that she's several years too late for it to be original, let alone as humorous as she found it. The interdweebs have been saying for ages.

So upon this revelation, my mother told me: "Street fu!"

To which I promptly replied: "GTFO!"

The confused expression on her face was priceless as she attempted to figure that one out. I told her its meaning, at which point she let me be.
